Hurting Dreamers

Blog By LatinBayArea200 views
Last week, in a disappointing step in the wrong direction, House Republicans voted overwhelmingly to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and effectively restart deportations of DREAMers, those undocumented immigrants who came to this country as children.

While this bill has no chance of becoming law we saw the majority of House Republicans act in defiance of the wishes of the majority of Americans who overwhelmingly support real immigration reform.

Despite the clear benefits of immigration reform and the support of roughly 3 in 4 Americans, House Republicans continue to find excuses in the face of fixing our fundamentally broken system. In fact, just earlier this year we found that 88% of Americans favor immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers brought to the United States as children.

Or share our Facebook graphic with your network to highlight the economic gains of immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers.

The humanitarian crisis on the border continues to show the critical need for real and lasting immigration reform. Instead, what we saw was just plain wrong.

Americans of diverse backgrounds across the political spectrum agree that DREAMers - who were brought here at a young age and have known only our country as their home - contribute to our communities and our economy. In order to truly secure our border, create American jobs, and boost our economy, House Republicans must work toward a permanent legislative solution.

Spread the word on Facebook: immigration reform for DREAMers will strengthen the American economy.

Or send a message on Twitter to House Republicans in support of DREAMers and their families.
